I remember that I lay down on the floor in my family’s house and drew a lot, because it was the only thing I really enjoyed doing. And I always told my parents I wanted to be an artist, because there are not many careers I know of when I was 6, you know. When I was 12, I started to practice Photoshop for image editing. It gave me a whole new experience. The picture of the career I wanted is getting clearer. Even if everybody says that it's gonna be hard to make a living, it does not bother me; I'm not scared of hard things. I wanted to be a graphic designer. But the moment the reality hits me is when I take art school courses. When I started to create art from someone's requirements and being judged. I started losing the joy I always have. That is the moment I realize I do not want to do this for a living. I just love to bring my imagination and creativity to life, not others. When designing doesn’t work for me anymore, now it’s time to aim for a new one. Last time I chose from skills I love, but it didn’t work. Now I need to adjust to skills that I am good at and still enjoy doing. Logical thinking. Actually, I got good mathematics and logical thinking, because my mom sent me to a LOT of tutoring courses. Asian style, you know. At the moment, I’ve tried programming and web development and found it really fun to do. And I found a lot of cool websites with fancy designs and scrolling effects. They shifted my whole experience. I told myself, one day I will create one. So I committed to going to IT school for a bachelor's degree. Made a whole lot of experience and friends from what they gave me and what I’ve been practicing myself. But I didn’t stop practicing art and design skills; I still love them. Furthermore, I also develop other valuable skills myself, such as public speaking, copywriting, and selling. Or even health, psychology, and economics knowledge I got emotional and logical skills. Right before I graduated, I decided to start a career based on my top 2 skills, web design and development, and working on my solopreneur journey. Now I’m in my 20s, hustling on the way to achieving my dream life. And that is all of my story. Hi, I’m Jerome Tana.
